Description Blocktile is a tough, loose lay interlocking .16" (4.0 mm) gauge dovetail elastomeric cushioned vinyl tile system for light to medium commercial traffic. Blocktile is designed for re-deployable installation over existing level floors. Old floors may have sub-floor moisture conditions, oil contamination or flaking paint. Blocktile has a wear layer of plasticized solid color vinyl that is co-extruded onto a cushioned support layer of homogeneous plasticized vinyl. Dovetail cut edges allow loose lay half drop interlocking installation. Manufacturing Technology Blocktile is a made by co-extruding a plasticized solid color vinyl wear layer onto a cushioned support layer of homogeneous plasticized vinyl. The surface layer has a pebble skin embossed pattern. Tiles are cut into a large dovetail pattern. Recommended Application The decorative solid color of Blocktile makes it suitable for display areas in retail stores; as a portable flooring (for leased spaces), in showrooms; as temporary flooring in museums; in kinder-gardens, as a stage floor covering, or as a dance floor. It can also be used in below grade areas with a moisture problem, or where old flooring must be preserved. Blocktile is a resilient solution for spaces where adhesives cannot be used on existing surfaces. Short Form Specification Blocktile shall be a .05" (1.2mm) plasticized solid color vinyl wear layer onto cushioned support layer of homogeneous plasticized vinyl for a total .16" 94mm) gauge flexible tile, as manufactured in the EEC for Tek Stil Concepts, Inc., P.O. Box 67, Haddonfield NJ 08033. Blocktile shall have dovetail edges and have a surface of standard or custom solid colors, in a pebbled semi finish, as specified by the Architect or Facility Owners. NOTE Do not use outdoors or if building temperatures consistently exceed 85°F (softening of interlocking grooves). Do not use under forklifts or other heavy rolling loads. Do Not apply rolling loads on carts with small (<2") casters (Loads in excess of 500 lbs/4 casters). Rolling Loads at temperatures of >85°F can cause problems with the dimensional stability of the tiles (softening of tongues). Do not use vinyl tiles under black rubber wheels, such as in automotive showrooms, as there can be permanent discoloration (browning) due to the antioxidants used in rubber. Availability Tiles: 19" nominal (460mm x 500mm) dovetail 20/box Weight Tiles: .66 lb (.3 Kg) 62 lb/box (28.2 Kg) Colors 9 standard colors. Custom colors require a >3,500 sft. order. ![]() |
