Description Blocktile is a tough, loose lay interlocking .16" (4.0 mm) gauge dovetail elastomeric cushioned vinyl tile system for light to medium commercial traffic. Blocktile is designed for re-deployable installation over existing level floors. Old floors may have sub-floor moisture conditions, oil contamination or flaking paint. Blocktile has a wear layer of plasticized solid color vinyl that is co-extruded onto a cushioned support layer of homogeneous plasticized vinyl. Dovetail cut edges allow loose lay half drop interlocking installation. Manufacturing Technology Blocktile is a made by co-extruding a plasticized solid color vinyl wear layer onto a cushioned support layer of homogeneous plasticized vinyl. The surface layer has a pebble skin embossed pattern. Tiles are cut into a large dovetail pattern. Recommended Application The decorative solid color of Blocktile makes it suitable for display areas in retail stores; as a portable flooring (for leased spaces), in showrooms; as temporary flooring in museums; in kinder-gardens, as a stage floor covering, or as a dance floor. It can also be used in below grade areas with a moisture problem, or where old flooring must be preserved. Blocktile is a resilient solution for spaces where adhesives cannot be used on existing surfaces. Short Form Specification Blocktile shall be a .05" (1.2mm) plasticized solid color vinyl wear layer onto cushioned support layer of homogeneous plasticized vinyl for a total .16" 94mm) gauge flexible tile, as manufactured in the EEC for Tek Stil Concepts, Inc., P.O. Box 67, Haddonfield NJ 08033. Blocktile shall have dovetail edges and have a surface of standard or custom solid colors, in a pebbled semi finish, as specified by the Architect or Facility Owners. NOTE Do not use outdoors or if building temperatures consistently exceed 85°F (softening of interlocking grooves). Do not use under forklifts or other heavy rolling loads. Do Not apply rolling loads on carts with small (<2") casters (Loads in excess of 500 lbs/4 casters). Rolling Loads at temperatures of >85°F can cause problems with the dimensional stability of the tiles (softening of tongues). Do not use vinyl tiles under black rubber wheels, such as in automotive showrooms, as there can be permanent discoloration (browning) due to the antioxidants used in rubber. Availability Tiles: 19" nominal (460mm x 500mm) dovetail 20/box Weight Tiles: .66 lb (.3 Kg) 62 lb/box (28.2 Kg) Colors 9 standard colors. Custom colors require a >3,500 sft. order. ![]() |

| Installation & Maintenance | |
| Installation Blocktile is designed for loose lay application. The tile may be used in areas with sub-floor moisture problems. Sub-floors must may be of concrete, wood, metal, epoxy, terrazzo or old tile and must be firm, smooth, structurally sound and even (without cracks). Grout lines of ceramic tile should be leveled (to avoid telegraphing after a period of time). Products and building shall be brought to a temperature of at least 68°F 24 hours prior to installation. Tiles shall be installed 1cm (.5") away from walls. Install tiles in a half-drop pattern. Seams swill fit loosely. Tiles can be cut to size with utility knife. Adhesives are not required for installation, with the possible exception of perimeter taping with siga Expofix 7710-7025 2.7" (70mm) wide acrylic double faced tape. Blocktile is designed for loose lay installation over firm sub-floors. NOTE Loose lay installations of Blocktile are subject to thermal expansion or contraction. It is recommended to leave 1/2" (1cm) clearance from walls when installing. Provide 1"expansion joints every 300 lft. Do not use outdoors (light fading) or if building temperatures consistently exceed 85-95°F Blocktile is designed as a loose-lay product. Maintenance: Coarse dirt should be removed by vacuum cleaning or wiping with a soft brush. Tile surfaces are water impermeable and should not be waxed, to avoid wax build-up. Either of two maintenance methods is acceptable:
NOTE Do Not apply rolling loads on carts with small (<2") casters (Loads in excess of 500 lbs/4 casters). Rolling Loads at temperatures of >85°F can cause problems with the dimensional stability of the tiles (softening of tongues). Do not use vinyl tiles under black rubber wheels, such as in automotive showrooms or black rubber casters, as there can be permanent discoloration (browning) due to the antioxidants used in rubber. Limited Warranty Products are warranted against wear for ONE YEAR if installed in strict adherence to all factory specifications on approved sub-floors and by trained personnel. Products are warranted for FIVE YEARS against non-conformance to technical specifications and deterioration of properties under normal conditions of use. Warranties are limited to repairing, or at seller's option replacing products if notice of defect is given in writing and if TSC's examination shows that the products have failed under the terms and limitations of this warranty. No responsibility for the cost of removal, re-installation, or freight can be assumed under this warranty. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to determine the suitability of the materials and of the sub-floor conditions for the intended use. Color match and marbleizing are subject to commercial tolerances. Claims for color match or any other visible material defects or damages are not accepted after installation. |
